Creativity in a Slump?

I know it is so easy to get in a creative slump and boy am I in one now. With the summer in full swing and my grandkids out of school and, well just everything summer. It is so hard for me to sit down and be creative. And of course the new meds they have me on is not helping me at all, they make me feel a little “out of sorts” if you know what I mean.

If you are feeling this way to and just can’t seem to get into your craft room. I am going to give you a few of my tips that I use to jump start my creative wheel.

Number 1: The first thing I like to do is clean off my desk and maybe my stash piles. In cleaning I find so many wonderful things that I had completely forgotten about.

Number 2: I watch creative videos. Not ones that are really complicated but ones that are just easy projects. Those I know I can and will do.

Number 3: I stop and realize just how blessed I am to still be able to craft at my age. To have a space and supplies is a blessing. And I should not take them for granted, because I know a lot of people don’t have this.

Number 4: I organize my supplies. I find in organizing it makes me more creative and makes me want to use my supplies a lot more.

Number 5: The last thing, I think about you guys! About how lucky I am to have such a wonderful support team. People that actually care about me and what I do on a daily basis. And you continue to watch my videos even though I may make the same thing 10 times in a row. You guys still come back again and again and support me. I have the best support team anyone could have in you. And if me creating and doing a video is in some way a small form of repayment for all you do for me then what am I in a slump for. Get off my bum and get to creating! Yes I have to talk to myself a lot and sometimes I might even yell at myself lol. I need a push from time to time like anyone else.

Now I know parts of Number 5 may not apply to everyone. And for those of you that it doesn’t apply to, then just think of me. I am rooting for you. I am pushing you to do it! I am here for you! I do my videos to help you learn and create.

Try applying these 5 skills to your everyday life and I promise you it will help motivate you.

I consider myself very blessed for all I have and that is the biggest motivator of all.

Blessings and much love, E

Nice article, and I do count my many many blessings every day. #1 My IRL family. Though they might not understand why I do the different crafts, they support me by encouragement, thrifting, and saving what they consider as trash for me. Well, the Hubster is in the same boat with me now; he has us saving TP rolls, styrofoam trays, takeout bowls, and so on. #2 I have the most amazing online family. They really help me out a lot, which I am very grateful for. Thank you, you are all the real MVPs. I can’t tell you how much you all mean to me. #4 As for what I am grateful for, I have to say that it’s the fact that I get to take all this inspiration, encouragement, and information from you and craft my ideal life from it. Well I can see my mind has run amuck again. Thanks for listening

Thank you for this blog, those are great ideas to help get creative. I haven’t been in my craft room 7-8 months. But I’m going to start tomorrow and clean and sort through everything. I too am so blessed with all the supplies I have and have been able buy. Thank you so much for all you do and all you create and teach us. I truly hope your medication balances out and you get to feeling back to better than normal.
